I moved to Hawaii after twenty-five years travelling the world, living in nine countries over four continents, pursuing dual careers in real estate and design. I fell in love with the Kohala Gold Coast because of its striking similarity to my native Zimbabwe and decided to settle permamently in 2003.
My family shares my passion for the creative arts and real estate and having 'grown up' in a design studio and on a ranch it was a natural progression for me to move into the design field, starting my own design company at the age of twenty, and taking an active interest in real estate with my first investment at twenty two. Twenty years later I was part of the management team for the largest real estate investment trust in the US.
I joined MacArthur & Company Sotheby's International Realty after moving to Hawaii. It was a natural choice because the company embodies the things I am passionate about; exceptional real estate, international emphasis and superb marketing design and presentation.

Rebecca Keliihoomalu has enjoyed a 35 year love affair with the Big Island. After her daughters graduated college several years ago, she and her family left Mill Valley in Marin County, California to make Hawaii their full time residence. Married for over fifteen years to a man born and raised on the Island, they brought their sons back to finish their education. Rebecca shares, 'We came on faith and love of our family. We sold everything we owned in California and moved over. We chose Waimea for the schools and because we owned land here. Most of our family is on the Hilo side but we are either over there or they are here.'
Settling in, Rebecca and her family built a house in the little known community of Waikoekoe, just outside of Waimea headed towards Hilo, where South Kohala turns into Hamakua. Their home on 40 acres is completely self sufficient with a photo voltaic system. The views are of the Waipio Valley rim, the ocean, Mauna Kea, and Maui. 'We love it,' she says.
Her love of land makes real estate a great career choice for Rebecca. With real estate as a second career, Rebecca has a background in fashion design and retail, marketing and product development. She has also owned multiple retail stores. 'I have been self motivated and self employed my entire career,' she says. Encouraged by her best friend who is also in real estate, Rebecca received her license in 2001 and earned her brokers license in 2008.
